This Retreat offers a one-of-a-kind curated & immersive spirit-connection-based healing experience for moms after losing a child to suicide.
The goal is for moms to leave feeling empowered & connected - to their own soul, nature & spirit as well as connection to their child in spirit. (See "Meet Your Hosts" Section at the Bottom)

This Retreat is exclusively for moms **. It is an all-inclusive, healing retreat experience. All activities, readings, meals (incl. those off-site), snacks, etc., are included in the price, as is transportation to and from San Juan Airport (SJU).

~ For smaller meals, you will dine in the Chef's kitchen area; for dinners, we'll overlook the pool patio area. Enjoy local cuisine prepared on-site, including farm-fresh eggs from chickens on the property, seasonal fruit available throughout the year, herbs grown in the kitchen patio garden, and more.
~ A (24-hour) private pool & pool house includes hot indoor & outdoor showers. There are 6 lush garden showers with vines of fresh loofa & passion fruit growing around you as you wash the day into night. Along with your casita's safe, private & nurturing privacy, there is space to walk, stretch & roam.
~ Wake up with the roosters and head to bed with the coqui. Enjoy dragonflies by day or cuddle farm kitten visitors by night. Truly unparalleled, nature island vibes.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR STAY?
This unique all-inclusive retreat for moms who have lost a child to suicide includes a pre-arrival meeting and meet-and-greet (Zoom). You will also get transportation to and from the airport, a private casita with a full bathroom, three nourishing meals a day (plus plenty of snacks), two or three beach trips and one rainforest adventure, daily guided morning (restorative) yoga plus meditation, journaling, group and private mediumship readings, intuitive workshops, and more...see boxes below.
Mom-to-Mom Connection.
Connecting with other grieving moms is a game changer in our 'after life'. I still recall the first time I looked into the eyes of another mom who 'knew '...now, I witness (daily) the true power of these mom-to-mom connections. You will form relationships with (new) best friends you wish you never had the reason to meet but won't want to live without moving forward! These relationships will validate your feelings and experiences, making you feel less alone. You will also learn to start trusting & reconnecting with yourself by being present in rich natural settings, connecting with your child in spirit, and being challenged in new, safe ways.
Spiritual Mediumship.
Angel & Lisa Dawn will be on-site with us for the entire retreat, allowing for a genuinely immersive universal spiritual experience - which is the theme of this retreat. Both Evidential Psychic Mediums and Spiritual Intuitive Mediums, with Skill Sets in Astrology, teaching & more. Connecting with our child in spirit is exceptional and feels somehow sustaining, even necessary, in this journey. Come get connected! You will experience group & individual readings as well as be introduced to astrology, reiki, meditation & more. All readings are given within the light in a positive, compassionate, & non-judgmental manner.
Daily Movement.
Moving our bodies is vital as we heal and learn to live after loss. Each morning will bring a daily movement (restorative yoga) session while overlooking the national rainforest and ocean, followed by a nourishing breakfast. There will be opportunities to rest and/or move throughout the day, including trips to the beach and one to the rainforest, walks to the neighboring farm, and more. While this is not a 'sight-seeing' trip, one day we will have a few hours in a seaside town for lunch & a chance to shop, prior to going to the beach. Activities will be low to moderate level, but for those seeking more adventure, you will find challenges as well.

Food matters - on a deep level. Menus & meals are curated specifically for this group by Melissa, a former Executive Chef, & executed to her specifications by her amazing Sous Chef husband - & The Leftover Pieces Team. We will proudly acquire as much local, organic food as possible, fostering a connection to our community and a commitment to the environment. All meals are mindfully prepared (& served to you), keeping with the principles of a low-inflammation, Mediterranean-style diet as the center point. Meals are not vegetarian - though some may be. Special dietary needs will be accommodated wherever possible (please advise ahead of retreat).
Serenity, Peace & Sleep.
The rooms are each a private oasis. Your casita will aid in deep, quality sleep with the support of a serene, nature-inspired interior design theme, with unparalleled views of nature and comfortable beds and pillows. Your casita will also function as your sanctuary to feel supported, comforted & cradled by spirit & nature alike. Casitas are not air-conditioned but situated with screened windows and fans to be breezy & comfortable all year long. The host (Melissa) has ensured this is a previous guest's experience, but we ultimately cannot control the conditions or weather.

Ocean views to the East: Watch the sun rise over the US and Spanish Virgin Islands and set over the island’s only rainforest. Most only dream of seeing the island this way. Located in the El Yunque Rainforest zone, you will connect with nature and this island like never before. Hammock next to the relaxing fishpond or alongside any of the 12 casitas. This retreat is designed for connection - to yourself, to other moms, to nature & to your child in spirit.
Everyone will have their own casita, each with its own private indoor and outdoor space. All have a private bathroom with a closing door, toilet, room-temp shower, closet, and queen-size bed, as well as a small patio space with seating.
To hold your spot, you must make an initial deposit of $750 (non-refundable). You can pay in full or divide the remainder into monthly installments—or just a few payments (let me know). A 5% discount is always available for paying in full when you book. Melissa emails you and you will make the payment via PayPal.

Meet Your Hosts
Hello, I am Melissa, and I lost my 21-year-old son Alex to suicide on August 7, 2016. My whole life shattered at that moment. For several years, I was lost in a fog - broken and unsure of how to rebuild any life from the devastation. But I want to share with you that healing is possible. It's been a long and difficult journey, but I've found comfort, connection, and healing. And I want to help you find it too.
Reflecting on the arduous journey of the first four years, I was determined to prevent others from enduring the same struggle. This determination ignited a passion within me to create a community of comfort, connection, and healing for those who have lost someone to suicide. In 2020, I channeled this passion into my podcast, 'The Leftover Pieces; Suicide Loss Conversations.'
With the launch of the podcast, I became a relentless advocate for meaningful conversations around suicide, mental health, trauma, and grief. What started as a weekly 'say-it-out loud' style podcast has now evolved into a platform that addresses a wider range of issues.
You see, I discovered three everyday needs in all of the moms I spoke with:
- The need for resources (at the time of loss and beyond).
- There is a need for connection to other moms who "get it."
- They need to ensure that their child is remembered.
Now, I also facilitate an entire online support community, provide resources, and have even designed a Legacy project to highlight and honor our child's life. I am an author, a certified Master Grief Companion, and a trauma-informed healer. And now, the retreats have also become a part of it all! And now, THESE RETREAT are added as a unique healing opportunity for us to come together, share our stories, and support each other in a safe and peaceful environment.
My heart's mission is now fully dedicated to creating a community of support and healing for suicide loss survivors, particularly for grieving moms like me. I find immense joy in helping them step towards hope and healing and in guiding them to find meaning and even happiness amid the leftover pieces before them.
